2) Katy’s message:
a) This week, while I'm singing with Dead of Winter (3:00 at the Desaultels Concert Hall, in collaboration with the Canadian Chamber Choir), Kelsey Shiaro will be in to lead rehearsal! Kelsey is currently a guidance counsellor at Gordon Bell High School, but was their choir teacher until just last year before moving into her new role. It's always nice to have some new perspectives and strategies from someone different, so I hope you'll enjoy your time with her!
b) In my ongoing series about the music we're singing, this week I'll tell you about Midwintersong. According to the composer, Liam Robinson, this song was "originally intended to be sung with friends (and mulled beverages!) around the fire," and was first sung in living rooms with friends before it was written down and published.
c) Liam Robinson is a New York City-based musician and composer, with a number of interesting credits to his name, including doing the vocal arrangements and musical direction for the musical "Hadestown."
3) Potluck
a) Potluck is October 18
b) From Debbie Woodfine: Thank you to those who were able to sign up last week after rehearsal to contribute food, volunteer to help and bring tablecloths. These sign-up sheets will be at choir this week as well.
c) The link to the online sign-up sheets can be found at the Margaret’s Choir Members Site under News & Events, along with additional Potluck details regarding what to bring, what to expect, and more. If you want to discuss or have ideas or suggestion, Debbie welcomes an email: dwoodfinesmile@gmail.com
d) Those thinking of providing entertainment should let Patrick know.
