i)     Bridge Over Troubled Water

ii)    Lean on Me

iii)  Love is Love is Love

iv)  We Rise Again

d)   Bring a water bottle.

e)   Wear a name-tag; it makes saying hello easier.

f)     We take a brief break ½ way through.  There will be no organized section-song at the break as folks will be busy with pot-luck preparations.

2)   Katy’s  message:

a)   Happy belated Thanksgiving! With our potluck this Sunday, it feels like another Thanksgiving meal to look forward to!

b)   I heard from Kelsey that she enjoyed her time with you the other week, so thank you for making her feel so welcome and working with her!

c)   This week, in my series about our songs, Bridge Over Troubled Water. This was written by Paul Simon in 1969, and was the title track on Simon and Garfunkel's 1970 album. The original recording features Art Garfunkel singing the lead vocals. The song won 4 Grammy Awards in 1971. Simon took inspiration for the title/chorus from a Gospel song recorded by Claude Jeter called "Mary Don't You Weep," which has the line: "I'll be your bridge over deep water if you trust in my name." The choir arrangement that we're singing leans into the original's gospel inspiration. If you want a great example of the style, see "Bridge Over Troubled Water - Young People's Chorus of New York City" .

3)   Potluck

a)   Potluck begins immediately following our session on October 18

b)     The link to the online sign-up sheets for food or practical help can be found at the Margaret’s Choir Members Site under News & Events, along with additional Potluck details regarding what to bring, what to expect, and more. If you want to discuss or have ideas or suggestion, Debbie welcomes an email: dwoodfinesmile@gmail.com

c)   (From Len: Bringing something to the potluck is not a requirement for attending and enjoying what is provided.)

d)   Want to perform for a couple of minutes that night? Reading poetry, singing a song, playing an instrument?  On your own or with others? There is a signup sheet for that as well that you can find by clicking the link. There is a new tab at the bottom called "Entertainment Sign-up".   Having 8 or more individuals/groups performing adds that special touch to our potluck.

e)    Guests are encouraged to arrive around 5:00 pm, after rehearsal is over and we have had a chance to get the tables up and the food out.

4)   We have found a librarian

Monika Robinson has agreed to take on this roll.  Thanks Monika, we will enjoy working with you and hopefully you will feel same way.

5)   What about a videographer/cinematographer?

We have become increasingly aware that ad hoc video recordings of our performances are less than ideal, and we are perhaps missing out on the opportunity to have a more compelling video of our performances.  So, if anyone knows of someone who might be interested (and somewhat skilled) in taking this on, do let me know.

6)   New Fall Concert Info

Our Fall concert takes place the afternoon of Sunday December 6th, and Dress Rehearsals November 29th and Tuesday December 1st, at Portage Avenue Church, 1420 Portage Ave.

Concert is entitled Uplift!

Guest Artists are a vocal group Vox Nova.
